We’re delighted to announce that Grace Spooner from Edgar Sewter Primary School in Halesworth, Suffolk is the winner of our national ‘Design a Road Safety Banner’ competition.
The competition, which was run in partnership with our sister company, Recognition Express Suffolk and national road safety charity Brake invited children aged four to eleven to design a banner conveying this year’s Road Safety Week theme: Step Up for Safe Streets.
Hundreds of entries were received nationally and the eye-catching design by ten-year-old Grace Spooner from Edgar Sewter Primary School was one of just 12 winners selected across the country. As part of her prize, Grace received a special award along with a large-scale printed banner featuring her winning design to display outside the school during Road Safety Week. In addition, every pupil from Edgar Sewter Primary School was given a high-visibility reflector gift, all donated from Recognition Express.
This is the eleventh year running that Recognition Express has joined forces with Brake to help raise road safety awareness. On presenting the banner to the school, Stewart Green, director of Kall Kwik Bury St Edmunds and Recognition Express Suffolk, said: “This competition is one of the highlights of our year and it is a privilege to be involved. We were really impressed by the high standard of entries we received and would like to offer a well-deserved congratulations to Grace for her inspiring design. We’re sure Grace’s banner will help encourage others to think more about road safety.”
Road Safety Week runs from 18-24 November. It is the UK’s biggest road safety event, involving thousands of schools, organisations and communities. This year’s campaign encourages everyone to learn about, shout about and celebrate the amazing design-led solutions that allow us all to get around in safe and healthy ways, every day.
