How to design effective exterior banners

Made from hardwearing vinyl, exterior banners are perfect for creating a large outdoor display that is sure to attract attention. Perfect for open days, corporate events or promotions, exterior banners are an affordable way of attracting attention.

Designed to be durable and withstand the elements, including heavy rain or bright sunshine, a vinyl banner is sure to be seen.

To get the most from your exterior vinyl banner follow these tips for an effective visual display:

Tip 1: ‘Location, location, location’

When designing your graphics, where your banner is going to hang is an important consideration . Vinyl banners can be easily attached to fences using eyelet holes and bungee cords or cable ties, or even attached to an A-frame. Remember to leave space to incorporate these eyelets into your design so that they don’t go through something important on your graphic. If you’re going to display the banner in a specific location, consider using a contrasting colour to the background, to help the message stand out.

Tip 2: ‘Less is more’

The aim of a vinyl banner is to be seen from a distance. To achieve this, it’s important to make it readable and to the point. A simple message in a large font works best. Likewise, an eye-catching graphic can be very effective.

A catchy headline, a good graphic and a call to action make for an effective vinyl banner.

Tip 3: ‘Design is key’

An exterior banner may be the first thing people see of your business or event. As such, it’s important to create a great first impression. A poor design may not reflect well on your company. Professional designers can create striking vinyl banners that will stand out and reflect your brand values.

Tip 4: ‘Size Matters’

When it comes to promoting your brand through a vinyl banner, bigger is often better. At Kall Kwik Bury St Edmunds we supply banners in a wide range of standard sizes, and can even print bespoke banners dependent on your requirements.

Tip 5: ‘Don’t forget the call to action’

Passing motorists may only see outdoor banners may only for a couple of seconds. So, it’s important to quickly grab their attention and provide a way for them to find out more information. Your website URL, printed in a distinct colour, can give somewhere for interested parties to discover more about your business.
